What I see becomes a sort of visual illumination, like a match struck unexpectedly in the dark, a gift, lighting my path into wonder.

I am curious about visual phenomena happening from my own back yard. The views from my window and from the back door into the yard and beyond have become locations of contemplation and receptivity. I am mostly receptive to colour. It fascinates me. Like Morandi, I recycle the same elements, referencing the ever-changing possibilities in this limited subject matter. My interest has grown from the full moon in the sky, the trees and the buildings, to include effects of the moon, the city lights and the atmosphere. Born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan with a fine arts degree from the University of Manitoba and further studies in France and Mexico. Was the Executive Director of Open Studio, the Waterloo Regional Arts Council and the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery. Recently received artist grants from the Ontario Arts Council and the Waterloo Regional Arts Fund to develop and exhibit new paintings that were shown at Homer Watson Art Gallery, the Glenhyrst Art Gallery in Brantford, Agnes Jamieson in Minden, Cambridge Galleries – Preston and Gallery Stratford. Received the Award of Excellence from the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition in 2012 and in 2015 the Machteld Faas Xander Visual Arts Award, KW Arts Awards.
